Vietnam To Grant Green Goods Tax Exemption

by Mary Swire, Tax-News.com, Hong Kong

08 September 2016

From September 23, Vietnam will exempt from export duty certain environmentally friendly products and half export duty for others.

According to the circular, the exemption applies to products that have been awarded a green label certificate by the Government. According to General Department of Taxation, the list of eligible products is set out in the "decree detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the law on environmental protection" (Decree 19/2015/ND-CP), available in English, which was issued on February 14, 2015.

Export duty on products for recycling and waste management activities specified in the Decree will be slashed by 50 percent.

Items not included in the new Circular will continue to be subject to existing preferential tariff rates.
