Ukraine's Finance Ministry is seeking input on how to make the country's tax regulations more effective and taxpayer friendly.
The Ministry said differences in the interpretation of tax regulations cause numerous tax disputes between the tax authority and taxpayers. The Ministry is seeking input on areas where guidance is lacking.
Yana Bugrimova, Head of the Project Management Office at the Ministry, said: "The Ministry of Finance is interested in business development, since it means economic growth and higher state budget revenues. Summarizing explanations on taxation issues poses an effective tool for the reduction of the number of tax disputes and, accordingly, helps to save time and other resources of taxpayers. We are going to use this tool actively to solve the key issues affecting business."
The Government has lately accelerated its efforts to revamp the country's tax system in line with EU and international best practices. The Government also recently approved three draft laws aimed at bringing about structural reform to the State Fiscal Service, in line with changes proposed by the International Monetary Fund.
