07 April 2016

On March 30, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Finance, Olena Makeyeva, updated US Chamber of Commerce members on reforms efforts to align the tax regime with EU best practices and international tax transparency standards.

Makeyeva said that the Finance Ministry has elaborated a strategy to revise tax treaties signed by Ukraine as well as to negotiate new treaties with EU countries with a view to attracting foreign investment.

Ukraine will soon negotiate revised tax agreements with Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the UK. In addition, Ukraine will soon ratify the Ukrainian-Maltese tax treaty, Makeyeva noted.

The Minister also informed member firms that the Government is preparing to sign the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement on the automatic exchange of financial account information.
