UK Updates Charity Tax Relief Model Declaration

by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London

08 March 2017

For the first time in seven years, HM Revenue and Customs has updated the charity Tax Relief model declaration.

The declaration must be filed by charities and community amateur sports clubs so that the tax agency can ensure that persons responsible for managing the charity's finances are "fit and proper persons."

The declaration aims to ensure that managers of charitable organizations entitled to charity tax reliefs do not misuse the funds received. Guidance released alongside the updated declaration provides information for organizations on completing the declaration.
