Turkey Cuts VAT On Education Services

by Lorys Charalambous, Tax-News.com, Cyprus

07 September 2020

Turkey has temporarily lowered the rate of VAT on the supply of education and training services.

Presidential Decision No. 2913, published on August 30, 2020, provides that education and training services will be subject to VAT at one percent in the period from September 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

Normally, these services are taxed at the eight percent VAT rate.

The measure applies to services provided within the scope of the Law on Private Education Institutions No. 5580, Social Services Law No. 2828, and Decree Law No. 573 on Special Education.
