The third SeaCargo Americas Conference will be held in Miami from September 16 - 18, 2007, and aims to enhance the growth of the maritime industry in the Americas.

Hosted by the World Trade Center and the Port of Miami, more than 300 international trade executives are expected to attend.

The 2-day conference will feature leading executives and government officials responsible for the future direction of the regional maritime industry. It will focus on ways to increase two-way business opportunities for the ports, maritime companies and related industries in the Western Hemisphere.

Key players in the sea cargo industry have been invited to participate. Among them are: Carlos Gutierrez, US Secretary of Commerce; Eddie Gonzalez, President, Seaboard Marine; W. Ralph Basham, Commissioner for US Customs and Border Protection, and port directors of several of the most important seaports in the Americas.

Topics will include the recent impact of Congressional decisions on US/Free Trade Agreements; the State-of-the-Sea Cargo industry in the Western Hemisphere; the critical balance between assuring security and facilitating trade; an update on US Customs Border Protection issues in the Western Hemisphere; security and other supply chain challenges at key hemispheric ports. A case study on Colombia’s Virtual Container Security Initiative and a shipper’s view of the sea cargo industry will also be presented.

Current sponsors of the conference include the Port of Miami, Seaboard Marine and the Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC).
