Sunreef Plans Two World Premieres At Cannes

by Ulrika Lomas,, Brussels

27 June 2013

Luxury sailing and power catamaran manufacturer Sunreef Yachts has announced that it intends to showcase six yachts, including two world premieres at the forthcoming Cannes International Boat Show on September 10-15, 2013.

At Cannes, Sunreef intends to debut the Sunreef 80 sailing LEVANTE, and a new concept of sailing catamaran, the Sunreef 60 LOFT.

The concept of the Sunreef 80 Sailing focuses on performance and speed. Commissioned by a European owner, the Sunreef 80 is made of advanced composite materials combining vinylester, PVC foam and carbon/glass fibre, with a carbon mast and boom, standing rigging with Kevlar. With a total sail area of 340 meters squared, the vessel will weigh just 45 tonnes lightship and 60 tonnes fully loaded.

The Sunreef 60 LOFT, a ready-to-sail luxury yacht with comfortable accommodation for six guests, will feature a fully equipped open galley with both Siemens and Gorenje appliances, located in the port-side hull, directly connected with the saloon. The cockpit and the saloon are both located on the same level and connected with a large sliding door which enhances the impression of one, seamless space.

In addition, the shipyard will exhibit its first poweryacht, the 60 Sunreef Power LILU YACHT equipped with the innovative IPS system. The IPS system makes maneuvering much easier with the possibility of side cruising and easy turning using one joystick. Despite being widely used on regular motoryachts, they are very uncommon on catamarans, especially large-sized yachts in which Sunreef specializes. The system improves the vessel's fuel consumption and increases its maximum speed by 2 knots.

The shipyard also intends to exhibit the Sunreef 70 MAVERICK, the 12th unit of the Sunreef 70 Sailing family, and the superyacht HOUBARA. The Sunreef 82 Double Deck will be again the biggest unit on Sunreef Yachts display this year. Presented last year in Cannes, HOUBARA accommodates up to 7 guests in one beam-wide owner suite, one VIP queen cabin and one guest twin cabin convertible to a double cabin with an additional Pullman bed, attended by two crew. On the power side, besides the 60 Sunreef Power, Sunreef will showcase again its extremely popular 70 Sunreef introduced in 2008.

Both MAVERICK and LEVANTE are to be made available for charters via Sunreef Yachts Charter. The shipyard will also introduce more projects underway in Cannes, including the 90 Sunreef Power, the Trimaran 210 and a new sailing superyacht measuring in at 165 feet.
