South African Tax Debts Due By January 31 Deadline

by Lorys Charalambous, Tax-News.com, Cyprus

22 January 2018

The South African Revenue Service has reminded taxpayers that individual tax payment is required by January 31, 2018.

The agency said 236,500 taxpayers potentially have tax payment obligations and that failure to pay could result in penalties and interest being added to the tax due and they could potentially face criminal prosecution.

"SARS thanks taxpayers who filed income tax returns during tax season and who already paid their tax debt. However, SARS would like to impress upon the affected taxpayers who have not yet paid to do so by January 31 or make a payment arrangement with SARS."
