Serbia Joins OECD Global Forum

by Ulrika Lomas,, Brussels

16 March 2018

Serbia has become the latest country to join the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, the OECD has announced.

The OECD said on March 12 that Serbia, the 149th member of the Global Forum, will work with other members on an equal footing, and is committed to implementing the latest standards on tax transparency and information exchange.

"The Global Forum is delighted to welcome Serbia and its commitment to tax transparency," said Maria-Jose Garde, Chair of the Global Forum. "All members of the Global Forum, as well as the Secretariat, are looking forward to work with Serbia to ensure effective implementation of the international tax standards for exchange of information and support its effort in mobilizing domestic resources with an aim to meeting the sustainable development goals."

The Global Forum is the leading international body working on implementation of the international standards on tax transparency. It is the continuation of a forum which was created in the early 2000s in the context of the OECD's work to address the risks to tax compliance posed by non-cooperative jurisdictions.
