Romania To Bolster Health Insurance Tax Breaks

by Tatiana Smolenskaya, Tax-News.com, Moscow

23 June 2015

The budget and finance committee of Romania's lower house of Parliament has endorsed a proposal to increase the limits on the tax deductibility of health insurance contributions.

Under the change, employers will be able to newly deduct contributions of up to RON400 (USD99.5) per employee, up from RON250. Employees will newly be allowed to deduct contributions worth up to RON400 per year.

The proposal would bring the employer and employee caps on allowable deductions for health insurance contributions into line with the current caps for pension contributions.
