Portugal, Mozambique Ink Tax Agreement

Portugal and Mozambique have recently signed a bilateral tax agreement, designed to strengthen cooperation between the respective tax administrations.

According to the release issued by the Portuguese finance ministry, the agreement on mutual administrative assistance in the area of income tax aims to strengthen the necessary mechanisms allowing for an effective exchange of information and to enable the authorities to obtain relevant information to combat fraud and tax evasion, in accordance with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Model Convention.

The Portuguese government has also recently signed similar agreements with Cape Verde and with Brazil, the ministry concludes.
