Pakistan's tax authority has appointed a team to create awareness about its newly introduced Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme.

The scheme was recently launched to encourage the business community to comply with their tax obligations.

The tax authority has dispatched personnel to regional tax offices to support efforts to inform taxpayers of the initiative.

Pakistan's Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar Khan, said the scheme offers "a rare and golden opportunity to the traders to become part of the tax net and do their business with ease and comfort and without any fear of being audited for the next four years."

Representatives from the regional tax offices are to hold regular meetings with tax professionals on the initiative.
