A new Tax Appeals Board has begun operating in Norway, replacing five regional tax commissions and special tribunals.

According to Norwegian Finance Minister Siv Jensen, under the restructured tax appeals system, cases will be dealt with more efficiently, and taxpayers will benefit from stronger legal safeguards.

The Tax Appeals Board is independent from the Government, and will deal with cases concerning income tax and value-added tax.
