The Dutch Government is to establish a new supervisory body to improve oversight of the country's tax collecting agencies.
The new body will seek to identify issues that require structural reforms at the tax and customs authorities.
State secretaries Hans Vijlbrief and Alexandra van Huffelen stated: "With the decision to establish our own inspection for the domains of taxes, surcharges, and customs, we are taking an important step in safeguarding the quality of our services and regaining the trust of citizens and employees."
The body will be created in early 2021, with inspections to begin by the end of 2021. Its progress will be reviewed after five years.
