Minor Adjustments In Norway's 2016 Budget

by Ulrika Lomas, Tax-News.com, Brussels

17 May 2016

The Norwegian Government has announced some minor adjustments to tax measures in the National Budget for 2016.

Under the changes, announced on May 11, the proposed air passenger tax will be introduced on June 1, 2016. It was originally envisaged that this tax would be put in place on April 1. The tax has been set at NOK80 (USD9.75) per passenger on both domestic and international flights, which must be collected by airlines.

An additional amendment will allow for a temporary net wealth tax deferral for owners of businesses which are running a deficit in their financial statements. A proposal will be presented to the Parliament towards the end of 2016 to implement this measure, the Government said.
