Mexico Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties On Ammonium Sulfate

The Mexican Government announced that it has decided to slap anti-dumping duties on imports of ammonium sulfate from companies in the United States and China.
Ammonium sulfate has a number of commercial applications. It is commonly used as fertilizer.
On April 25, 2014, Mexican manufacturers Agrogen and Metalúrgica Met-Mex Peñoles asked the Government to conduct an investigation to determine whether imports of ammonium sulfate from companies in the US and China were entering the Mexican market at below the prices charged in those domestic markets - a practice known as dumping.
On August 12, 2014, the Secretariat of Economy initiated an investigation covering the period between January 2011 and December 2013.
Following the investigation, the Secretariat concluded that there was sufficient evidence that ammonium sulfate from the US and China was being dumped and causing harm to the domestic industry. It said that imports from the two countries increased 274 percent in the period under investigation, and their share of domestic consumption increased by 15 percentage points.
The Economy Ministry determined an anti-dumping duty of USD0.0759 per kilogram for imports from US firm Honeywell and a duty of USD0.1619 per kilogram for all other US exporters. China's Wuzhoufeng will be subject to an anti-dumping duty of USD0.0929 per kilogram, while all other Chinese exporters will be subject to a duty of USD0.1703 per kilogram.
