Kuwait Airways Set To Be Privatized

by Lorys Charalambous, Tax-News.com, Cyprus

The Kuwaiti government has announced this month that it is to push ahead with plans to privatize the national airline Kuwait Airways.

Announcing the move, the State-run news agency KUNA disclosed that Citibank and Ernst and Young have been appointed to oversee the move with aviation consultants Seabury.

The airline is to be established as a private company with 25% of the shares to be retained by the state, 5% to be retained by the airline's employees and the remainder sold to private investors, including Kuwaiti citizens.

The Kuwaiti Airways fleet comprises 17 aircraft in total.
