Jet Charterer Reports Strong Sales Rebound

by Mike Godfrey, Tax-News.com, Washington

16 July 2010

Canadian private jet charter company New Flight Charters has said that while the rest of the aviation industry is facing a protracted downturn, the jet chartering sector, in their experience, has experienced a strong rebound from the recession.

The company reported a 76% increase in June flights year-on-year, undertaking 123 charter flights during the month, an all-time record since the company’s inception in 2003. During the first half of 2010, the number of charter flights undertaken by the firm has increased 24% year-on-year. New Flight Charters reported that the majority of June charters were for business travel, with vacation/leisure charter flights second.

"This is a terrific report card on the company, and on the industry in total," said company president Rick Colson. "We are looking for a period of moderate sustained growth over the next 12 months, as the private flying consumer becomes both more comfortable with the economic conditions and educated in their options for flying privately."
