Jersey Trusts Seminar Sees Book Launch

by Robert Lee, for, London

20 November 2006

Jersey Finance will launch a new book on the island's finance industry at its Trusts Seminar tomorrow, which has been moved from the Museum of London to The Mermaid Conference & Events Centre in Puddle Dock, Blackfriars, London EC4 due to high demand for places.

The book Jersey – First for Finance is the product of a collaborative effort from senior politicians, civil servants and leading representatives of the Finance Industry and features a wide selection of articles covering a variety of topics.

As well as contributions on Jersey’s Banking, Trusts, Funds, Insurance, Legal and Accountancy sectors, the book also contains a number of articles focusing on Jersey’s high quality of life, vibrant Waterfront development and the role that technology plays in making Jersey a centre of excellence in the field of financial services.

The seminar, ‘Jersey – First Amongst Equals’, is the first to be held in London organised by Jersey Finance devoted entirely to the Trusts sector. Nearly 300 delegates are due to attend.

‘The event is being held in conjunction with the Jersey Association of Trust Companies (JATCo) and is a must for anyone who is involved in the provision of Private Client Wealth Management Services. It will be attended by London based trust lawyers, accountants and other financial services professionals offering the perfect opportunity to network with fellow colleagues from London and those visiting from Jersey,’ explained Beverley Le Cuirot, Director of Marketing at Jersey Finance.

There will be a series of brief introductory presentations explaining the benefits of the recently approved Trusts Jersey (Amendment No.4) Law. Panel sessions will follow with an impressive list of practitioners from both London and Jersey taking part.

The island's financial services sector is booming. The funds sector has doubled in size during the last five years, with more than US$300bn in assets under administration. Bank deposits on the island exceed US$350bn.
