Jersey, Cyprus Agree New Double Taxation Agreement

by Jason Gorringe,, London

14 July 2016

Jersey has signed a double taxation agreement with the Republic of Cyprus.

The double taxation agreement (DTA) was signed on July 11, 2016, at the Cyprus High Commission in London by Philip Bailhache, Jersey's Minister for External Relations. It is the twelfth agreement signed by Jersey that meets new international standards.

Bailhache said: "The signing of the DTA with Cyprus continues Jersey's firm and longstanding commitment to the international standards of transparency and information exchange."

"Jersey also pursues a good neighbor policy in relation to the European Union and we are therefore delighted that with the signing of the DTA we will be further strengthening our political and business relationship with an EU member state. The signing of a DTA with Cyprus is particularly welcome because we have a great deal in common as international finance centers."
