Int'l Organizations Agree On Unified Tax Discussions

The world's leading international bodies on tax matters have agreed to work jointly to progress international tax reform.

The International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations, and the World Bank will meet regularly to discuss the design and implementation of international tax standards. They will also cooperate to enhance the capacity-building support they provide to developing nations, produce jointly developed guidance, and share information on operational and knowledge activities.

They said their initial priority is the development of "toolkits" to help developing countries implement the measures developed under the OECD's base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project.

It is hoped that, by providing a single point of contact, developing nations will be able to engage more easily in discussions towards future international tax measures. The four organizations intend to regularly hold meetings with representatives from developing states, as well as regional tax organizations and banks.
