The Indonesian Government plans to introduce a 57 percent excise tax on e-cigarettes from July 1, 2018, according to local news reports.
Heru Pambudi, the head of Customs, was reported as saying the Government has considered the product's health impact and potential behavioral changes by taxpayers if the product is subject to tax.
The levy was proposed by Pambudi in November 2017, and further details are expected in the coming weeks.
