Indian Patent Office Receives 1,000 Applications Electronically

In less than one year of receipt of the first application filed electronically, the Indian Patent Office has received 1,000 applications electronically, it was announced on Friday.

E-filing of patent applications in India began on 20th July 2007, when the online filing of Patents and Trademarks application facility was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Kamal Nath.

E-filing is also available for filing new TMR applications and TMR search.

A facility for filing other Intellectual Property applications electronically will be created soon, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced.
