India To Probe Chinese 'Dumping' Of Fluoroelastomers

by Mary Swire, Tax-News.com, Hong Kong

03 January 2018

India's Department of Commerce has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into Fluoroelastomers from China.

The investigation was launched following a complaint from Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd that Chinese exports were causing injury to the domestic industry, alleging that goods were being sold into the Indian market at below Chinese market prices – a practice known as "dumping."

Fluoroelastomers is a class of synthetic rubber designed for very high temperature operation. There are various applications of Fluoroelastomers such as industrial use in hydraulic O-ring seals, check valve balls, electrical connectors, automotive use in shaft seals, fuel injector O-rings, and aerospace use in O-ring seals in fuels, lubricants and hydraulic systems, manifold gaskets, and fuel tank bladders.

A country is able to respond to dumping with anti-dumping duties, providing they can properly determine that its domestic injury is being damaged by the imports. India launched its investigation on January 2, 2018.
