04 September 2008

A two-day National Conference on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) held by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is set to take place in India on September 5, 2008.

The conference will be spread over 8 Technical Sessions and will be addressed by experts in the field of IFRS.

Challenges in adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards, First Time Adoption of IFRS and the issues related to change over to IFRS, will be the key focus of the conference.

Late last month the ICAI also organized a Workshop on IFRS at Baroda, Gujarat, on August 29 and 30.

The workshop gave an overview of the application of IFRS in an Indian scenario. Considering the fact that many challenges are faced during the initial implementation of IFRS, a special session was dedicated to sharing implementation experiences by various consultants and users, both large and small.
