Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Housing, Eva Cheng, is set to lead a 22-member shipping mission to Vietnam to promote Hong Kong's shipping and maritime services.

The mission has been jointly organized by the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Members include representatives from the Hong Kong maritime industry and relevant organizations.

In Ho Chi Minh City on February 26, Ms Cheng will open a seminar on Hong Kong's maritime services to introduce to the Vietnamese audience the professional and world-class services in ship finance, taxation, maritime law, arbitration, ship management and ship registration, as well as investment opportunities, offered by Hong Kong.

Later in the day, the mission will meet the Vice-Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Mr Nguyen Trung Tin, and visit the facilities of Saigon Port and the Maritime Vietnam 2009 Exhibition.

On February 27, the mission will arrive in Hanoi to meet the Vietnamese Vice-Minister of Transport, Mr Tran Doan Tho, and visit the Vietnam Maritime Administration.

During their stay in the country, Ms Cheng and members of the mission will also meet and exchange views with key players in Vietnam's port, maritime and shipping businesses, local government officials and chairmen of trade associations.
