Hanjin Shipping has completed the construction of its Busan New Port Phase 2-1 Terminal in South Korea.

With three 18m deep berths which can accommodate up to three 12,000teu vessels concurrently, the new terminal covers approximately 687,590sqm.

The terminal is also the first in the world to introduce the use of an automated horizontal yard crane system by CyberLogitec.

The operators, Hanjin New Port Company, are hoping to reach their 1.6 and 2mteu targets by 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Speaking at the terminal's opening ceremony on May 21, Hanjin Shipping Chairwoman Eun Young Choi remarked:

"I hope Hanjin Shipping’s Phase 2-1 Terminal will contribute to promoting Busan New Port to a state-of-the-art hub port of Far East Asia.”
