Guatemala Offers Three-Month Tax Amnesty
by Mike Godfrey, Tax-News.com, Washington

Guatemala has announced that it will waive interest and penalties on taxpayers who agree to pay any unpaid tax promptly.
Under the newly approved amnesty, taxpayers who pay off all their tax liabilities within three months will be granted a reduction in any penalties, fines, or interest payable.
To what degree such are reduced depends on how quickly payment is made; those making good on their tax debts within one month of making an application will have such liability waived, while 95 percent or 90 percent will be waived if payment is made within two or three months, respectively.
