Gozo Cruise Liner Terminal Attracts Numerous Bids

by Lorys Charalambous, Tax-News.com, Cyprus

29 November 2013

The Minister for Gozo – the second largest island making up the territory of Malta – has confirmed that 14 firms from around the world have expressed interest in constructing a yacht marina and cruise liner terminal on the island.

The government issued its call for expressions of interest internationally in June 2013, with a deadline of September. Private sector participants were asked to submit plans for a terminal to accommodate small- to medium-sized cruise liners as well as recreational yachts.

Gozo Minister Anton Relafo reinforced the importance of constructing a terminal to ensure that Gozo's economic development keeps pace with Malta's, and to ensure that it has the necessary infrastructure to encourage more young and skilled Gozitans to remain on the island.
