General Electric Aviation, the manufacturer of jet and turboprop engines, components and integrated systems, and its joint venture companies, CFM international and the Engine Alliance, have accumulated engine and services orders valued at more than USD27bn at the 2011 Paris Air Show.

GE Aviation and its joint venture companies amassed orders for more than 1,400 engines valued at more than USD16bn, as well as nearly USD11bn in service agreements at last month's event.

Highlights include an order from Virgin America for 60 LEAP engines for its new Airbus A320 aircraft and an order from AirAsia for 400 LEAP engines to power its A320neos.

The advanced LEAP engine is a product of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between GE and Snecma (Safran group).

"The tremendous number of LEAP engine orders at the show demonstrate that customers are clearly gravitating to the reliable innovation of the LEAP engine to provide the airline's narrow-body segment with the 99.98% dispatch reliability that it demands and CFM engines can deliver," said David Joyce, president and chief executive officer of GE Aviation.
