France's Ayrault Inaugurates Airbus Assembly Line

French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has recently inaugurated the 74,000 square-metre final assembly line of the Airbus A350 in Toulouse, praising both the competitive business model of Airbus and its industrial partnership.

Highlighting the fact that the new Airbus is lighter, more energy-efficient, more environmentally friendly, and more comfortable for passengers, Ayrault welcomed the technological developments, noting that over 550 orders have already been placed for this next-generation jetliner.

Alluding to the fact that the Airbus A350 final assembly line has mobilized 80% of all businesses in the Toulouse area, Prime Minister Ayrault emphasized that the orders for the new plane will guarantee stable jobs in Toulouse for a good number of years to come, as well as stable employment on all the sites of its industrial partners, notably research laboratories, small- and medium-sized companies and large industries.

At full production, the final assembly line will employ some 1,500 people who will build up to ten aircraft a month as from 2018.

“Innovation is deeply rooted in our DNA and this is fully demonstrated on the A350 XWB, the world’s newest, most advanced airliner," said Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President & CEO.
