With an agreement reached on increased information sharing, the GUAM states – Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova – have agreed to ease checks at their borders.
The heads of customs administrations of the GUAM member states recently signed a protocol to cooperate more deeply in custom matters.
The Protocol provides for the development of an enhanced legal framework and cooperation to further simplify customs procedures.
Roman Nasirov, Chairman of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, commented: "Strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and [the other] GUAM countries in the customs area will allow us to significantly speed up and simplify customs formalities when moving goods and vehicles across the state border. And this, in turn, will enable the countries to actively develop trade and economic relations."
