The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has announced the dates on which the remaining forms, statements, and reports will transfer to its practitioner lodgment service (PLS).
The PLS is the ATO's main electronic lodgment channel for tax practitioners, and has replaced the electronic lodgment service (ELS). The PLS is now the only electronic lodgment channel through which a tax practitioner can lodge their clients' tax returns for the 2017 and future tax returns.
The ATO said that on September 30 the following forms and services will move to the PLS:
- consolidated corporate group – notification of formation and members joining or leaving the group;
- trustee details – closely held trust reporting; and
- client updates – add/remove relationship, client lodgment status, client address, client details.
On December 15, activity statements, direct debit requests, and all remaining reports will move to the PLS. This includes: electronic funds transfer report; income tax client report; income tax lodgment performance report; activity statement client report; activity statement lodgment report; and request tax practice management reports.
The ATO said that tax practitioners may already be able to access these forms or services using the PLS via their software. If not, their digital service provider should let them know when these services will become available.
