Fairline Celebrates 100 Squadron 78 Milestone

Luxury motor yacht manufacturer Fairline has announced that it has secured an order for the sale of its hundredth Squadron 78.

First unveiled in 2003, the Squadron 78 has become one of Fairline's most successful and iconic luxury motor yachts. Welcoming the milestone, Kevin Gaskell, Chief Executive Officer of Fairline Boats, said: "We are incredibly proud of the fact that the Squadron 78 is now in its twelfth year of production. This demonstrates the strength and appeal of its design and build quality. Our teams work tirelessly to ensure that every Squadron 78 is crafted to the owner's exacting requirements, creating beautifully customized and bespoke luxury motor yachts."

The 100th order comes shortly after the recent launch of Sunreef's most customized model ever, a Squadron 78 CUSTOM called MATCH 2, involving almost 400 customizations. MATCH 2 will be its owner's fifth Fairline yacht and second Squadron 78.

James Powell, Fairline Yacht Division EMEA, commented: "When we launched the Squadron 78 in 2003 we knew we had created a world-beating luxury boat. We have always enjoyed working closely with our customers to create high-end motor yachts that are truly unique. The entire team are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and we are very much looking forward to working with the future owners of new Squadron 78s."

Statistics released by Fairline to mark the milestone show that the total value of all Squadron 78 sales exceeds GBP150m (USD246m). The Squadron 78 is the most customized of all Fairline's models, with over 10,000 customizations undertaken, taking approximately 160,000 man hours to complete. In total, the 100 yachts – which would stretch 1.5 miles if lined up bow to stern – took approximately 1.9 million man hours to complete.
