Estonian Tax And Customs Board To Target Black Economy

21 March 2013

Estonia's black economy will be the strategic focus for the country's Tax and Customs Board during 2013-2016.

Finance Minister Jurgen Ligi recently approved the TBC's plans, explaining that they would protect fair competition as well as ensure efficient revenue collection.

According to TBC Director General Mark Helm, the new strategy pays special attention to efficiency and control measures, as well as to legislative changes and advice given to taxpayers. The TBC has published a detailed overview of its specific objectives, broken down by sector and department.

This is the TBC's third four-year Development Plan. From 2008-2012 the TBC's strategy was focused on reducing administrative burdens.
