05 March 2018

MEPs have voted to establish a new special committee of the European Parliament, which will focus on financial crime, tax evasion, and tax avoidance.

The new committee is intended to build on the work of the TAXE 1, TAXE 2, and PANA inquiries. It will be comprised of 45 members and have a 12-month mandate.

The mandate begins immediately. The composition of the committee will be decided at parliament's March plenary session.

Molly Scott Cato, tax justice spokesperson for the Greens/EFA, said: "We need to finish the work we've started on delivering tax justice across the EU."
