Directors Fees Outside Scope Of Saudi VAT

by Lorys Charalambous, Tax-News.com, Cyprus

29 April 2019

Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Zakat and Tax said on April 14, 2019, that fees earned by members of boards of directors of companies, bodies, or government institutions are outside the scope of VAT.

Consequently these persons will not be required to register for VAT or issue tax invoices, as they are considered to not be "taxable persons" under the GCC's unified VAT framework, the authority confirmed.
