Costa Rica Approves Tax Cuts For Eco-Friendly Cars

08 December 2017

Costa Rican lawmakers have approved a bill on first reading that would remove indirect taxes on low-cost electric vehicles.

According to the Citizen Action Party, a parliamentary plenary approved law no. 19744 on November 27 on first reading.

The bill would exempt from consumption tax, sales tax, and import duties electric vehicles costing USD30,000 or less, with reduced tax rates to apply to those costing more.
