The Port of Taipei has inaugurated two new container piers, making it the second largest Taiwanese port.

The port is undergoing a series of upgrades that are outlined in the Ministry of Transportation and Communication's (MOTC) build-operate-transfer (BOT) project.

The project, which commenced in 2003 and is set to take place over an 11-year period, allows for the construction of 7 new container piers in total.
