Cameroon Signs Up To Multilateral Tax Assistance Treaty

by Ulrika Lomas, Tax-News.com, Brussels

27 June 2014

Cameroon has become the 65th signatory to the Multilateral Convention on Mutual Assistance in Tax Matters.

The Convention was developed jointly by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Council of Europe. It is open to all countries, and enables tax authorities to request information from other signatories' revenue agencies, and to seek assistance in the collection of outstanding tax debts.

At its 2014 Ministerial Meeting in May, the OECD called on all countries to sign and ratify the Convention without further delay.

The Convention must now be ratified by Cameroon to enter into force.
