The UK's Chartered Institute of Taxation on Friday announced the appointment of several new officers, with effect from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on 15 May 2007.

Robert Ellerby (currently Deputy President) will become President, the CIOT announced.

Mr Ellerby is Director of National Tax Training at Ernst & Young LLP, has been a member of Council since 2001 and is an immediate past Chairman of the Institute’s Education Committee. As Chairman of the Institute’s Conferences Working Party, he has played a leading role in organising the technical programme for the last ten Members’ Conferences.

Nick Goulding will then step up to become Deputy President. He is a senior adviser at KPMG LLP, and his main areas of work are partnership and private client tax.

Mr Goulding is currently Chairman of the CIOT Membership Committee and of the Stakeholder and Charitable Working Parties, and joined the CIOT Council in 2003.

Andrew Hubbard will become Vice-President. Mr Hubbard is National Tax Technical Director at Tenon, specialising in the taxation of entrepreneurial businesses and their proprietors.

He is Chairman of the CIOT’s Small Business Working Group, and in 2006 won the LexisNexis Butterworths Tax Writer of the Year Award.
