In view of the introduction of a new income tax return form, the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) has extended the filing deadline for individual taxpayers to October 31 this year, from September 30.
A new "scanner-friendly" tax return will allow for paper tax returns to be captured electronically, and enable faster, more accurate, and reliable processing of returns by BURS during the 2015 filing season.
The new tax return will be posted to all registered taxpayers by August 15, and the previous tax forms will not be accepted.
Taxpayer education workshops on how to complete the new return will be held during the next two months.
