Automatic Exchange Of Information Deadline Approaching, Says HMRC

by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London

23 May 2017

UK tax authority HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has said that the deadline for submitting Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) returns for the year ended December 31, 2016, is May 31, 2017.

It said that returns should include reportable accounts under the US Financial Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), the UK's equivalent regime covering the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories (CDOT), and the Common Reporting Standard (CRS).

Returns submitted after the deadline, or the filing of an incorrect return, may result in penalties being charged, HMRC said.
