Australia Launches Pre-Budget Consultations

by Mary Swire, Tax-News.com, Hong Kong

13 December 2016

The Australian Government has launched its pre-Budget consultations, seeking submissions from individuals, businesses, and community groups on their priorities for the 2017-18 Budget.

According to a statement from Small Business Minister Michael McCormack, "the 2017-18 Budget will maintain the Government's commitment to economic growth, to boost job creation, and to sensibly and responsibly restrain government expenditure."

"A strong budget ensures our country is positioned to handle any future challenges in the global financial system and ensures the future of government services."

The statement added that the Government will continue to work towards returning the Budget to balance.

The consultation will close on January 19, 2017.
