Argentina Announces COVID-19 Tax Concessions

The Argentine Government has announced a number of tax-related measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The measures announced are as follows:

  • For healthcare industry businesses, the Government is to reduce the tax rate on debits and credits in current accounts from 0.6 percent to 0.25 percent, and reduce the rate for cash withdrawals by businesses from 1.2 percent to 0.5 percent.
  • For the healthcare industry, employee social security contributions will be reduced by 95 percent for a 90-day period starting March 20, 2020;
  • Employer social security contributions will be waived for sectors critically impacted by COVID-19, including leisure facility operators, passenger transportation services providers, tourism services providers, and hotels;
  • The deadline for filing 2019 personal income tax returns was extended from March 15, 2020, to May 29, 2020.
