Alderney Plans Marina

by Robert Lee, Tax-News.com, London

02 August 2010

The States of Alderney has launched a search to find a developer for a new 300-berth marina in Alderney, construction for which is planned to begin in early 2011.

The States is looking to pair up with a private sector partner to undertake the design, build, financing and ongoing operations of the new marina, to be based at Brave Harbour, north Alderney.

The project is as part of the island’s efforts to encourage inward investment. Commenting, the States’ Chief Executive, Roy Burke said: "The Outer Harbour at Alderney provides a unique opportunity for a new marina in one of Europe’s finest and least developed yachting positions.”

Providing the developer’s plans are approved, the creation of the marina would begin in spring 2011.
