WIPO Exhibition Showcases Hong Kong Intellectual Property

An exhibition showcasing various facets of creativity in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) opens at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on Monday, coinciding with the opening day of the annual session of the WIPO Assemblies.

The exhibition, entitled 'HK Creativity – Intellectual Property in Hong Kong, China' has been organized jointly by WIPO and the government of the People’s Republic of China, in cooperation with the Hong Kong government.

WIPO Director General, Dr Kamil Idris, announced that:

"The works featured in this exhibition bear witness to the creativity and originality of artists and designers in Hong Kong SAR. This exhibition captures the unique blend of modernity and tradition that is specific to Hong Kong SAR.”

He added:

“It is our mission at WIPO to foster creativity and to provide the means of protecting the fruits of creative expression. The international intellectual property system is a key element in establishing an environment in which artists and creators the world over are able to protect their works and obtain just remuneration for their efforts while ensuring that the public is able to benefit from their artistic genius and enjoy more beautiful surroundings."

The Director General thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Hong Kong government and Intellectual Property Department, as well as the artists and designers whose works are featured in the exhibition “for sharing this remarkable exhibition with us”.

The exhibition features an exclusive combination of art works, designs, fashion items, and films that characterize Hong Kong’s diversity and creative talent.

The exhibition is open to the public from October 4 to October 12, 2007.
