The governments of Vietnam and Greece have signed a series of agreements to boost their bilateral relations, especially in the areas of trade and investment.
The agreements were signed during the Greek President Karolos Papoulias’s visit to the Southeast Asian country on Monday.
Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet and his Greek counterpart, who is on a week-long visit to Vietnam, witnessed the signing of the investment promotion and protection agreements between the two governments.
While trade and investment ties between the two countries are relatively minor at present, the two leaders agreed that they should do more to develop bilateral economic ties in the future. In this regard, they discussed potential areas for cooperation in areas such as shipping, shipbuilding, tourism and agriculture.
Papoulias stressed that Greece represents the ideal conduit for Vietnamese exports into the markets of Europe, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea areas.
