Speaking on Thursday, during a visit from Belgian Foreign Minister, Karel De Gucht, Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung expressed his government's desire for closer cooperation between the two countries.
According to the official Vietnam News Agency, the areas of economy, trade and investment are of particular importance to the Vietnamese authorities.
Dung further stated that Belgian businesses locating their operations in Vietnam would receive a warm welcome.
Mr De Gucht also met with Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, who called upon Belgium to support the country in its anti-dumping battle over leather shoes in European markets, among other matters.
