The Ukrainian government has announced that tax collected during May surpassed that projected in the State Budget by 6.8%.
According to the Head of the State Treasury, Tetyana Sliuz, in May the State Budget, including general and special funds, taking into account VAT rebates but excluding proper incomes of budget institutions, obtained UAH17.2bn (USD2.26bn)(106.8%).
Tetyana Sliuz informed that during the first five months of 2009, tax collections have surpassed expectations by some 4.6%.
Tax collections at municipal level have also come in above projections during 2009 despite the financial and economic crisis, increasing some UAH524m against 2008 levels over the same period.
